The session of the UNECE Committee for Trade Capacities and Standards, at which the Study on Regulatory and Procedural Barriers to Trade in Serbia was officially presented, was held on June 21 and 22, 2021, via video conference.

This study identifies regulatory and procedural barriers to trade, at the border itself, but also after the entry of goods, in order to support the Government’s efforts to increase the contribution of trade to economic growth and achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals. Obstacles were identified using the UNECE research-based assessment methodology, which covers the areas of trade and transport facilitation, as well as quality infrastructure (standardization, technical regulations, accreditation, conformity assessment, market surveillance and metrology).

At the meeting, the representatives of the UNECE Secretariat presented the methodology of the Study, as well as the most important recommendations and conclusions. Representatives of Serbia, Stevan Nikčević, State Secretary at MTTT and Chairman of NTFC, as well as Duško Marinković, Deputy Director of the Customs Administration and Zoran Bakić, Representative of the Ministry of Economy and Chairman of the Expert Working Group on Technical Barriers and Measures with Equal Effect in Trade within NTFC, shared the views of our administration, referred to the recommendations from the Study and presented plans for improving trade facilitation policy in Serbia.
